Amanda Nunes
This appears to be the obvious one. While the record does not favor Holm at the moment, it is a true money fight to make for the UFC. Amanda Nunes (17-4) is one of the most dominant female fighters out there today. In her last six fights, “The Lioness” has knocked down a Murderers’ Row of fighters: Valentina Shevchenko (2x), Miesha Tate, Rousey, Raquel Pennington and Cris Cyborg. That last bout, a boxing clinic against Cyborg, was the most talked about moment in MMA at one point.
After her fight with Aspen Ladd was called off for unknown reasons, many speculated that Holm would be the one to face Nunes. The fight could be at either weight class, but if the UFC wants to establish the featherweights, that might be the route to go in.
Holm and Nunes stylistically make sense. Holm has a 33-2-3 record in boxing, known for her impressive striking ability. While Nunes doesn’t have the record she does, her brutally fast hands can inflict damage in the blink of an eye.
One thing is for sure: When these two eventually get inside the octagon, expect sparks to fly.
