I promise not to belabor the issue, nor to overstate the disastrous nature of the Eagles’ decision to blow up their old fan forum format, and replace it with a sanitized Disney World-type teleprompter from the set of “Shake It Up”… after all, there are huge world crises going on right now in Japan and Libya and Tunisia…
But Eagles fans need to understand…our most knowledgeable and sensible fan voice has just been locked out!—along with the players.
Of course, replacement players will eventually fill in until a compromise or ultimate impasse is reached between the union of “Smart Fans” and the oligarchy of the NFL.com department of the Philadelphia Eagles…
Meanwhile, the King of All Eagles Media, GK Brizer, remains hunkered down in silent contemplation—and perhaps a bit of protest.
This is the time of year we Eagles fans usually await Brizer’s MACH 10 DRAFT CHALLENGE contest…but hundreds, nay thousands, of Brizer’s followers are left in Limbo with the untimely death of the established format of PE.com’s “On The Inside” fan forum…
My classic avatar image of GK Brizer…somehow, I think it’s close to his true image…athleticism combined with a Great Brain.
I am reminded of a great speech by a great American of more than 100 years ago who faced a similar crisis of citizenship. A key part of his speech went something like this:
“The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood; who strives valiantly; who errs, who comes short again and again, because there is no effort without error and shortcoming; but who does actually strive to do the deeds; who knows great enthusiasms, the great devotions; who spends himself in a worthy cause; who at the best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement, and who at the worst, if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who neither know victory nor defeat.”
Brizer now finds himself at a similar epicenter of crisis. Does he accept the juvenile limitations of the newly sanitized and homogenized PE.com? Or does he lead his true followers away to a new destination of “daring greatly”?
And that, my friends, is what’s at stake here. The Philadelphia Eagles website once “dared greatly”, in terms of both content and format, before suddenly succumbing to the wishy-washy ideals of a homogenized NFL.com network.
I downloaded the archives of the past “On The Inside” Fan Comment sections as rapidly as possible upon the news of the demolition of the old site…I didn’t get them all…PE.com was torching the older archives from 2005 to 2008 even prior to their announcement of the new platform on March 31. But I got enough of ’em, from 2008 to 2011, often just one step ahead of Dave Spadaro’s demolition crew, to present the evidence of the great content Eagles fans will not be allowed to experience any longer…unless a compromise agreement is bargained for a new fan forum alternative that suits the talents of the smartest Eagles fans on da Earf.
Here is Volume 1 of what I have saved from the Best of Brizer from the best damn fan forum in the NFL, 2008-2011…

That’s Volume 1… I’ll present Volume 2 in the next blurb. For newbies who have never been exposed to Brizer’s sharp football knowledge or wit , this first volume is just a sampler of what you missed. And it’s just a teaser of what PE.com is going to miss if GK (Charlie Sheen=WINNING!) Brizer is not allowed to perform in an intellectually free and satisfying way on their revamped website. Trust me—you may have to swallow your false pride sometimes to get the true meaning of “perking up” to Brizer’s standards— but it’s an honorable exercise. And PE.com readers who have followed “On The Inside” over the years understand the truth inherent in Brizer’s takes…and have brought audience rating highs to the site in large part because of Brizer’s impact.
I think a poster named Mr. Nobody said it best when, on October 18, 2009, at 11:01 in the morning, he posted this tribute:
