Travis Kelce made it known before Thursday night’s game that he was going to embrace the role of captain and be a role model to his teammates.
You’d never have known that if you watched how he acted in Thursday night’s opener against the Patriots.
Kelce took a costly penalty that hurt the Chiefs at the time, and it was completely unnecessary. It happened at the end a play in the third quarter, after he caught a shovel pass. He then put a cheap shot on Kyle Van Noy while on the ground — shoving the football into the Patriots LB’s groin area.
