Hornets guard Malik Monk nearly cost his team a win by celebrating prematurely late in Wednesday’s game against the Pistons, and the team’s owner let him know about it.

It happened when Jeremy Lamb drained a long jumper to give his team a 108-106 lead, which caused Monk to run onto the court so he could celebrate with his teammates. The problem was that there were still 0.3 seconds remaining in the game, so Monk was hit with a technical foul (too many players on the court).

Hornets owner Michael Jordan was none too pleased about it, and he was seen having some words with Monk afterward, apparently reminding his player to refrain from celebrating until the game was over. Jordan even slapped Monk on the back of the head as well to really drive his point home.

Langston Galloway made the technical free throw to cut the Hornets’ lead to one point, but Blake Griffin’s inbounds pass that followed was stolen, and Monk was lucky that his boneheaded move didn’t cost the team a victory.
