Cowboys Keys to Victory Against New York Giants

Consol Energy Center

The Cowboys will begin a 3-game homestand and it all begins today against the New York Giants. This will be the Cowboys next challenge and they’ll need to stay consistent more than ever. You assure yourself a playoff spot by winning your division, and that mission starts today.

We did a piece in conjunction with BleedBigBlue , a solid NY Giants blog. Together we both cover why the Cowboys will win today and why the Giants will win the game. Be sure to check out the article here.

Let’s get to my keys to the game:

— Special teams has been inconsistent this season, and I’m talking about the return game. Dwayne Harris has fumbled too much and fielded the ball from too deep in the endzone and I’m sick as hell of it. No fumbles and no bad field position will give us a good chance at winning the game.

— No turnovers. See above. And no turnovers from Murray. Murray had a fumble free game last week and he’ll need to do the same today. The Giants aren’t very good this year, and any help in form of turnovers is exactly what they’ll need. Let’s no give them free opportunities!

— If deep pass game is gone, then exploit the Giants with our intermediate passing game. We could see a big game from Cole Beasley and more from Dunbar in check-down situations.

— If Jeremy Parnell needs help, then this could effect what we do on offense. His play could be key to how effective we are on offense. We need Parnell to fill in for Free and we need him to hold his own. If Parnell plays bad we could be in a closer game than expected.

— The defense is facing a depleted wide receiver corps from the Giants, but that does not mean we can let up on them. I want to see us dominate them a full 60 minutes as a result. No let ups, no free yards.

— Keep running the ball through out the game. Last week towards the end of the Seahawks game we seemed to have abandoned the run and it was driving me crazy. Do not deviate from what is working for us this year. The Giants have two big defensive tackles and we can tire them down as the game progresses. It’ll be on if we can wear down the Giants defensive line.

— Henry Melton has started the season relatively slow and quiet, but he has begun to show up a bit more over the last two games. I want to see Melton have a breakout game today. Tyrone Crawford should have plenty of sack opportunities as well. The Giants O-line is not that good, so we could see multiple sacks today.

— Put the NFC East on notice. Let’s come out and make a statement today. Let’s own the Giants today; force the run down their throats; and let’s get after Eli all day long.

— Jerry Jones holds a special place for the Mara’s in his heart and I know he wants us to crush the Giants. Let’s get the man a nice win at home!
