If you look at the history of the WAC the past 5-10 seasons, you’ll see that the conference has been dominated for the most part by one team: the Boise State BCS-Crashing Broncos.
And when it comes to the WAC’s top NFL talent, those same Broncos dominate that department as well.
With the quarterbacks and receivers being the feature positions when it comes to senior talent in the WAC, watch out for some exciting offenses in a conference that features the Top 25 hopeful in Nevada and the National Championship hopeful Boise State.
1. Austin Pettis, Wide Receiver, Boise State
Physical receiver who’s a red-zone nightmare, he could be a first round prospect with improvement in route running.
2. Kellen Moore, Quarterback, Boise State
Not likely to be a top two rounder, but all Moore has done is be the most consistent and efficient quarterback in college football.
3. Colin Kaepernick, Quarterback, Nevada
-A wild card when it comes to his next level potential, Kaepernick has the arm and athletic ability to draw McNabb comparisons.
4. Nate Potter, Offensive Tackle, Boise State
-Not nearly as talented as Ryan Clady was a few years ago, Potter has the size and feet to be an NFL tackle.
5. Greg Salas, Wide Receiver, Hawaii
-Forget the system receiver label, with guys like Davone Bess and Ryan Grice-Mullen in the NFL, the 6’2 Salas could be the next one.
6. Titus Young, Wide Receiver, Boise State
-The other part of one of the top receiving duo’s in the country, Young’s the Broncos deep threat and has good moves after the catch.
7. Ben Jacobs, Linebacker, Fresno State
-A physical, effective tackling linebacker, Jacobs could be a surprise linebacker with his technique and motor.
8. Vai Taua, Running Back, Nevada
-Versatile, all around back, Taua has shown he can be a receiver out of the backfield and still a consistent runner.
9. Jeremy Avery, Running Back, Boise State
An explosive burner for the Broncos who’s a threat in the receiving area too, his lackluster performance vs. TCU in ’09 hurts.
10. Ryan Winterswyk, Defensive End, Boise State
-An average athlete, Winterswyk gets the most out of himself and his motor and production will give him an NFL chance.
