NFL Draft Second Round “Re-Mock”

Andy DaltonAfter what was a first round that was unexecpted and exciting, teams will need to go right back at it today and add more prospects to their franchises depth charts.

Here is a rough idea on where I think the bets remaining players will fall this afternoon and tonight.

33. New England Patriots – Akeem Ayers, OLB, UCLA
Didn’t get a pass rusher in the first roun, Ayers is a perfect fit as a 3-4 OLB for the Patriots

34. Buffalo Bills – Colin Kaepernick, QB, Nevada
-Had interest in many of the top quarterbacks this year, Kaepernick is moldable and a decent value.

35. Cincinnati Bengals – Andy Dalton, QB, TCU
-The scenario they were rumored to be banking on, they get Dalton to replace Carson just in case.

36. Denver Broncos – Marvin Austin, DT, North Carolina
-Passed on Marcel Dareus at pick number two, Austin could be elite if he gets it all together. Great value.

37. Arizona Cardinals – Kyle Rudolph, TE, Notre Dame
Reports were Rudolph could have gone in the mid to late first round, the Cardinals get the top tight end.

38. Cleveland Browns – Da’Quan Bowers, DE, Clemson
-Fell more than expected because of the knee, could end up proving everyone wrong, worth the risk.

39. Tennessee Titans – Justin Houston, OLB, Georgia
-The Titans have shyed away from character red-flag guys before, and Houston could be steal here.

40. Dallas Cowboys – Brandon Harris, CB, Miami (FL)
-Pass on Prince in the first, they get the 3rd best CB (in my opinion), early in the 2nd.

41. Washington Redskins – Torrey Smith, WR, Miami (FL)
-Could use a young, explosive receiver, and Smith has the raw speed, game-breaking ability.

42. Houston Texans – Jabaal Sheard, DE, Pittsburgh
-Went with the front three in the first, adding Sheard could give them a devastating pass rush.

43. Minnesota Vikings – Kenrick Ellis, DT, Hampton
-Passed on the talent at DL in the first round, character aside, Ellis is an elite talent and a steal here.

44. Detroit Lions – Bruce Carter, OLB, North Carolina
-Need to address the linebacker position early, Carter could end up being the 2nd best behind Von.

45. San Francisco 49ers – Aaron Williams, CB, Texas
-Went with the pass rush in the first round, Williams is the best cornerback left here in the second.

46. Denver Broncos – Ben Ijalana, OT, Villanova
-Likely picked by now by a team trading up, if the Broncos can get Ijalana, Tebow will be very happy.

47. St. Louis Rams – Leonard Hankerson, WR, Miami (FL)
-Rumored to be interested in moving up for Julio, they wait until the second and get the #3 WR here.

48. Oakland Raiders – Martez Wilson, OLB, Illinois
-Not a major need, Wilson is a perfect, versatile fit and the athlete Al Davis loves.

49. Washington Redskins – Stephen Paea, DT, Oregon State
-Addressed the pass rush with the first rounder, Paea can be a nose tackle in this system with his power.

50. San Diego Chargers – Clint Boling, OG, Georgia
-Lots of injuries and question marks on the line, Boling could play guard or right tackle early.

Ryan Williams51. Tampa Bay Bucs – Mikel LeShoure, RB, Illinois
-Blount played well last year, it’s not a huge need, but LeShoure has value here.

52. New York Giants – Ryan Williams, RB, Virginia Tech
-Got a falling Prince in the first round, getting the drafts second best running back is another great value.

53. Indianapolis Colts – Drake Nevis, DT, LSU
-Nevis is a perfect fit for their system, can provide needed pass rush up the middle.

54. Philadelphia Eagles – KJ Wright, OLB, Mississippi State
-A bit of a reach here in my opinion, Wright has the athletic ability and versatility Andy Reid loves.

55. Kansas City Chiefs – Brooks Reed, OLB, Arizona
-Rumors were they could’ve went here in the first, Reed is a good value based on NFL teams’ boards.

56. New England Patriots – Christian Ballard, DT, Iowa
-Character red flag after a positive marijuana test at the Combine, he’s a great fit, good talent value.

57. Seattle Seahawks – Ryan Mallett, QB, Arkansas
-Can’t see Mallett falling much further, worth the risk here at the bottom of the 2nd. Could go higher.

58. Baltimore Ravens – Titus Young, WR, Boise State
-Need explosiveness on their offense, and some have compared Young to Jeremy Maclin.

59. Cleveland Browns – Edmund Gates, WR, Abilene Christian
-A bit of a reach here, Holmgren likes to draft the under rated guys he loves, and Gates could develop.

60. New England Patriots – Rodney Hudson, OG, Florida State
-Got Solder in the first, getting Hudson who can play center or guard is a good value here.

61. San Diego Chargers – Vincent Brown, WR, San Diego State
-Vincent Jackson not playing was a mess last year, and Brown could develop into a #2 or even #1.

62. Chicago Bears – Greg Jones, OLB, Michigan State
-A great system fit and reminds me of Lance Briggs, Jones is a favorite of mine and is a good value.

63. Pittsburgh Steelers – Marcus Gilchrist, CB, Clemson
-Rumored to be moving up boards, Gilchrist is a good fit for the Steelers secondary and fills a need.

64. Green Bay Packers – Randall Cobb, WR, Kentucky
-Could go much earlier, Cobb adds even more versatility to this Packers offense.
