Chattanooga quarterback BJ Coleman has been invited to the NFL Combine, according to the Chattanooga Times Free Press (@mocsbeatctfp on Twitter).
Coleman, a transfer from the University of Tennessee, was set to lead Chattanooga to a long awaited playoff berth before a shoulder injury derailed his season. The injury kept Coleman from living up to the high expectations that many around the program had for him in 2011, ending the season with 1527 passing yards, 9 TDs and 9 INTs.
2010 was a much better year for Coleman, when he passed for nearly 3000 yards and 26 touchdowns. Coleman (6’5, 220 lbs) has the size you want in a quarterback, as well as a solid arm and good mobility. Perhaps his biggest strength is his intangibles, as he is known around the program for leadership and his football IQ.
Coleman is Optimum Scouting’s sixth rated senior quarterback, and should be drafted between the 5th and 7th rounds.
