Breaking news out of Miami, the Dolphins have terminated the contract of center Jake Grove, who signed a 5-year $30 million contract last offseason. Grove performed very well in his only season with the Dolphins, enabling the running game to run between the tackles with more success, something they were lackluster at in 2008.
However, durability concerns, the huge contract, and Joe Berger winning the starting job this preseason, were obviously the motivating factors in letting him go. Cory Procter, meanwhile, is likely being re-signed to back-up Berger, even though he spent the preseason at guard.
