Steelers collapse in Oakland, lose 34-31

I missed the first 3 quarters of this one, but it sounds like every Steelers/Raiders game from the past few years.

The Steelers jumped out to a 24-14 lead in the 3rd quarter on a Mike Wallace touchdown catch, but the defense squandered the lead in a 2nd half where Oakland scored every time they saw the ball. Sebastian Janikowski booted a 44 yard field goal as time expired to complete the comeback and ice the win for the Raiders.

Pittsburgh outgained Oakland 433-321 in a game in which they dominated the majority of. Ben Roethlisberger tossed 4 touchdowns but the offense stalled late in the 4th quarter when the defense couldn’t get off the field.

Penalties and turnovers are usually the culprits in games like these and today wasn’t any different. The Steelers fumbled 4 times in all, losing 2 of them. Antonio Brown lost a crucial fumble in the 4th quarter that led to the Raiders finally tying the game.

Pittsburgh was also penalized 10 times for 81 yards during the contest.

The early bye week looks like a blessing for a team that has injuries to 3 of its stars and is now sitting at 1-2.
