The Miami Dolphins will host the New England Patriots on Sunday. This is a classic AFC East showdown, and one that shows just how much better the division has gotten. Despite the solid clash, this game is a solid value for fans of both teams on the secondary market at just over $191 on average with a get-in price of $53. The game is currently the third most expensive home game on the Dolphins schedule this season, and just 7% above their home average.
Miami fans aren’t buying Miami Dolphins tickets to go see a loss, though, as Ryan Tannehill and co. look to land a home win after splitting the season series with the Pats in 2013. They don’t look formidable on offense, but their no-name defense is better than advertised and they are a pesky bunch.
The story for the New England Patriots in Week 1 is whether or not they’ll get star tight end Rob Gronkowski back in time to face the Miami Dolphins. While it may be on a limited basis, the word has been encouraging so far. Should Gronkowski indeed suit up, the Patriots will be back to full health for the first time since before last year.
Tom Brady is arguably what sells New England Patriots tickets these days, but he’s also dealing with a minor calf issue. In order to march into Miami and best the division rival Dolphins on the road, Brady and The Gronk will both need to be at near full strength. Those two don’t have to do it alone, though, as two guys that were banged up for half of 2013 (Danny Amendola and Shane Vereen) will also be ready for big roles. It’s not all about offense, though, as star cornerback Darrelle Revis will shadow deep threat Mike Wallace and the new-look New England defense will try to hassle the Fins into mistakes all day.
While it could be a close game like Miami/New England battles have been as of late, the Patriots are still the much more talented team on both sides of the ball. Provided Brady’s calf injury isn’t randomly super serious, New England should escape with a Week 1 win.
