Let’s cut to the chase. Down 13-6 in the 4th quarter, Lamar Miller crashed into the end zone with 10 minutes or so remaining for a game-tying score (with extra point). This was a big win for the Dolphins tonight pushing their record to 7-5. However, much needs to be corrected with the Dolphins defense, the same defense that made C.J. Anderson a household name in Denver, gave up 277 yards on the ground to Chris Ivory and Chris Johnson and a few trick play runs from Jeremy Kerley and Percy Harvin. Nevertheless, the Dolphins rallied late in the 4th quarter, fought hard, showed they wanted it more than the Jets and got the tough road win.
Biggest plays of the game:
3rd down tackle by Reshad Jones running right resulting in a tackle for a loss.
Ryan Tannehill guiding the touchdown drive as Lamar Miller gashed the Jets defense with patient running in the 4th quarter.
Reshad Jones game ending interception that deflated the Jets chances of having a Met Life Miracle with a win.
Dion Jordan punt block was a big lift to the Dolphins down 13-6.
Any way you slice it, the Dolphins had trouble facing a Jets 3-4 front. They had trouble blocking up the middle as Satele was on ice skates going backwards much of the night giving way to Ellis. The right side of the line was difficult to slow down Quinton Coples. Ryan Tannehill was sacked two times and hit an hurried on almost every play.
It was cold. It was rainy. It was raw.
Dolphins win round one. Let’s hope the Dolphins playoff aspirations are still in view after next week versus the Ravens.
For now, celebrate the win for a millisecond and back to Miami to face the Ravens.
