Nothing about the Dolphins eight victories have been orthodox. On a day when the coaching change winds have been swirling among media circles, all eyes were on the Dolphins down 17-7 at the half. Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater showed why he was chosen in the first round despite a poor workout for NFL teams.
Roaring back in the second half didn’t seem likely as the Dolphins have been victims of slow starts and a defensive lackluster effort.
However, today, the Dolphins wouldn’t be denied. Quarterback Ryan Tannehill dusted off his arm, threw for 396 yards and four touchdowns. Despite his early first quarter interception, Tannehill rose up and found Charles Clay for a big game while throwing inside his 10 yard line. Then after a few runs by Lamar Miller, Tannehill found Dion Sims on a pretty pass over the head of the cornerback in the end zone for six.
The second half resulted in the Dolphins scoring 28 points and winning the game in dramatic fashion. Sure the Dolphins were eliminated with the Steelers taking their chance away with a win versus the Chiefs, but they didn’t let that stop them from continuing to fight.
For teams that falter at the end of the season, it’s easy to point fingers and lose miserably.
However, today, the Dolphins found the will to win leading to winning a thriller at the end of the season, when it didn’t seem to matter to most NFL pundits.
Terrance Fede, incredibly put the Dolphins in the win column with the NFL play of his life…on special teams for a safety and go-ahead score with 41 seconds remaining.
Next week, the Dolphins face the Jets. It’s Jets week and the Dolphins are again 8-7…the goal remains the same, finish strong.
Update: The South Florida Sun-Sentinel is reporting that Head Coach Joe Philbin will be back in 2012 per owner Steve Ross. More on this week, will be widely discussed by all Dolphins fans.
