Dolphins team media coverage is a bust for fans

Today, I alluded on Twitter, something troubling that has brewing and perhaps boiling over in the hearts of Dolfans who loved and counted on the Finsiders.

Lately, all the Dolphins app does is play short 2 minute and 16 seconds of a tiny interview with a player or a weird driving segment with Mike Pouncey and Sam Madison (former Dolphin). I did enjoy the segment, but thought it was strange they were in the car ala James Corden.

While I can respect the Dolphins approach to making it fan-friendly for the casual fan, the more experienced fans who watch football 24-7, downloaded the podcasts of Finsiders, and enjoy watching 30 minutes of a press conference are deeply disappointed.
Here’s what it boils down to as far as why the Dolphins in my opinion took the wrong approach cost. Airtime costs money. Airtime on the radio requires sponsors. With airtime comes ratings. If the Finsiders didn’t meet ratings or have rave reviews on Fox Sports Florida then find another channel or outlet.

With short YouTube like clips, the Dolphins do not worry about ratings nor do they care about getting sponsors. They can simply throw whatever content they want at the fans because, well, it could entice more ticket purchases to enjoy the sites of the canopy.
However, for an out of town, and out of state fan such as myself, the Dolphins are everything and removing suitable and yet informative content to make it look like MTV Cribs is a farce.

As much as I can appreciate the Dolphins standpoint, I’m more turned off and will hopefully tune out the next time another 2 minute clip with a guest host airs.
