#1 Kellen Moore QB Boise State
#2 Robert Griffin III
#3 Brandon Herron LB Michigan
I would like to first explain my process; I am not going to go by reputation specially in early balloting.
Though many put up big numbers this first week much of those numbers were put up against suspect competition. I plan as well to have one defensive player in my three candidates each week.
Deciding on who this week wasn’t as hard as I’m sure it’s going to be in future ballots, track and accumulating a defensive player is much more difficult than the player hanging 5 touch downs and no int’s against a team like TCU. Shea Mc Cellin came in close I had to go with Brandon Herron this week his 94 yard int return for a touchdown turn the game around for Michigan who was in deep trouble against
W Michigan a MAC contender, he added in a second TD on a fumble recovery off a sack, there by scoring almost half of Michigan total points for the game and 2/3 of the points scored by Michigan up to that point.
Robert Griffin III, what can you say, regardless of the number of guys TCU lost this year, historically they just haven’t given up a performance like that since the late 50’s 21 of 27 passing 359 yards 77.8 completion percentage 5 TD no int’s and a QB rating of 250.6, just unreal even if he had play Utah State I would be very impressed.
So why Kellen #1 considering his numbers 28 of 35 261 yard 82.4 completion percentage 3 TD’s 1 int and a QB rating of 170.1 if I am not doing this on reputation alone? Simple TCU 2011 version is now Georgia Bull Dawgs, though many might be down on them after then game against Boise their opinions will quickly change as the Dawgs go through their schedule, with late word leaking out that Aaron Murray might not play next week due to some broken or maybe just cracked ribs I’m not so high on them taking South Carolina to the wood shack yet, but make no mistake about it Richt has himself a god group of talent, loaded with speed size and skill if they don’t pull it together next week they soon will and everyone in their way better look out. That al being said Kellen throw to 9 different players one of whom he just started throwing to 3 weeks ago for the first time. The job he did with what he had against who he played says it all.
