Boise State Desperately seeking competition

That is the sum of the cries from Bronco nation.  Brain Murphy made some great points in yesterday Idaho Statesman you can read it here.

After Friday night’s game against Fresno I was left not even interested in watching game day things have become so mundane. As a Boise State fan reflecting on the past games a few things sure do stand out. One being we certainly expect perfection from our Bronco’s , and we seem to find flaws around every corner, so when Kellen doesn’t hook up on a deep pass or Geraldo Boldewijn drops a perfected pass on a third down in the end zone we all become drama queens over it. We Bronco fans are so spoiled we seem to expect touch downs on every play or at the very least first downs. Boise has become so dominate it’s no longer just us looking at the schedule and see nothing but smooth sailing all the way to the next BCS game.

With Boise State preparing to play their first Mountain west conference game this week, when looking at the results of those we are to play no one in the national media let alone the most cautious fan can see any danger out there, and there folks is the danger, last year after blowing out Fresno State came the Nevada game, just when we thought we had no real threat to us before us a team that had lost earlier in the year to Hawaii was waiting for us. Despite what the MSM talking heads might be saying let me assure you there is plenty of danger. Boise is most certainly going to get every team left on our schedules best game and make no mistake about if Boise doesn’t continue to improve and keep its edge then it’s double danger because unlike Bama or LSU Boise can’t lose and get anything better than a Vegas Bowl and that for this team is just not acceptable.  I’m sure every player on Boise State knows this and will use the fear of the unknown to keep them moving forward and getting better.

So what about the fan base what about the MSM, no doubt everyone in America would love to see Boise State play top flight opponents every week but folks no one does. Bama plays plenty of bums along the way.

So after watching Boise State dispatch 5 teams so far this season with relative ease with only one quarter of play leaving you in suspense that being the first quarter in the Georgia dome, we are left with high expectations on every down, techno bowl scores and even with that we are left wanting, wanting to see our Bronco’s play a highly competitive meaning full game, well I got news for you folks every game they play is highly competitive every team we go against for at least two quarters teams give everything they have in hopes of tripping us up in hopes of gaining some momentum. For two quarters every game Boise is in a life and death struggle with the opposing teams going all out using every bit of practice leading up to the game hours and hours of coaches watching game film and strategizing with hope of finding that one chinking in the Bronco armory, for every team we have played and every team we are about to play a win over us makes their season, it’s their BCS game, and each and every week Boise has to go out there and break their appoints will, destroy their dreams and crush their hopes, if you cannot take the pleasure in them doing just ,that they do this with such great results then you just don’t understand how elite this team is. There is no doubt that if Boise had gone on to play the same schedule as Georgia, LSU or Michigan, we would be having this same conversation today with the added exception of LSU’s because they still have Bama on their schedule, however you would still be looking at the remaining schedule thinking who’s left? Where is the challenge?  Sure there would be bigger named schools on the list, some pleasure beating up on the Florida’s of the world but it’s not like they would offer up more of a challenge then say TCU or San Diego State.

What we need to do as a Boise State fan is watch the opposing teams more closely early and appreciate their efforts and heart to come out and play the best they can against our Mighty Bronco’s then be grateful in watching future Bronco greats as well as those Senior back up’s get some real game experience.

Watch every minute of every Bronco game, because unlike years passed these Broncos are not here and done, but are moving onto to the next level, if you thought last year seen the most Bronco’s move on to a rookie year on a NFL team’s wait until next year, there is not a scout in the NFL that doesn’t see all 4 Boise’s starting D line on a NFL roster next year, then there is Doug already considered a second rounder(that’s sure to move up by draft day) Kellen as if?? Shoe who doesn’t need a sure handed Slot guy with height and speed? Efaw a classic NFL TE, Febis will get his chance to play. Iloka will be a premier Saftey inthe NFL for years!Watch every minute folks so you will already know who’s will be your stars next year and so you can watch the games on Sunday and think with pride I remember when…..

It’s Good a be a Bronco!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
