FOLLOW-UP FROM THE OFFICE OF ORANGE JACKET GUY

(NOTE: I know the video thing didn’t go as well as I was saying, but before it went completely south and before I slimmed it down, I had a lot of material. The following is the result of changing a scant few words of it and replacing words like video and speak with words like write. I do a lot better when I either write a blog piece or do unscripted video.)

Greetings, Bronco Nation, from the Office of Orange Jacket Guy; it is again a distinct honor to write to you. I am joined here with my client and fellow Orange Mafia member, Bronco Fett. I fear I must give out some righteous indignation.

I hear that most of you are doubting both BSU’s future in football and Coach Pete’s future. This is not only sad, but just plain wrong. In order to keep Bronco Nation going, we must trust in the Good Coach Chris Petersen. We must trust Coach Pete even in Kellen’s absence.

Our Good Coach has had an exemplary record. Finding and using Kellen Moore to the potential that we saw was NOT a fluke. I say it again in case none of you got it: KELLEN MOORE WAS NOT A FLUKE!!! It is very clear through Coach Pete’s time here at BSU that he knows talent, knows how to recognize it, and knows how to use it! Just think of our first big game in the spotlight, the 2007 Fiesta Bowl. That team was made out of a bunch of very similar misfit parts. Men like Jared Zabransky, Ian Johnson, Legedu Naanee, etc, were for the most part mismatched. But they were quality players and they were talented. Coach Pete, along with excellent teamwork, showed us that conventional wisdom was wrong and that more upsets were (and still are) coming. This was not that long ago and this was known by most if not all.

Some of these doubts are natural but the rest are NOT. The establishment BCS good-ol’ boys system would still have you believe that BSU doesn’t belong in their grand age of football. Their message is that we don’t belong, and with them come the small-time trolls that seek to demoralize the school, the fans, and the team. They seek to disrupt the Whole Package concept that I have written about before and I am sad to see that it’s working. One of these trolls is the guy who made the if-boise-state-had-a-kicker song and video. I did some checking on this guy recently and back when the video came out. Not only does the song claim to be from the point of view of one of us, but he seeks to legitimize the trolling crap that comes from the message boards and forums across the internet. This guy is clearly not a real fan and certainly isn’t one of us. His facebook timeline and website are curiously plagued with VANDAL COLORS, devoid of anything supporting Boise State, and even has a post suggesting that he only did the video part to get cheap views on youtube. Don’t listen to the haters! Don’t listen to the doubters. Don’t listen to the crap! You ALL know better!

Coach Pete has earned our respect. He DESERVES our respect and our trust, and believe me, in my personal life, I have trust issues; it’s extremely hard to earn my trust these days. Coach Pete has done enough for the school and the team to have out trust. He deserves nothing less. He has done well during his time here and hasn’t said or done anything to suggest a different future.

If the doubters and the lukewarm fans want to abandon the great thing that is Bronco Nation, they can just go away. In decades past we’ve been through low and dark times. Even IF we’ve been at the top and are headed downward, there’s no reason to abandon us now. If you’re going to abandon us now, just go away and don’t let the door hit you on the way out. We don’t want you and we don’t need you. As for me and the rest of Bronco Nation, we will trust and honor the Good Coach Chris Petersen.

Keep the faith, Bronco Nation. We stick together and we stick to our team and coach. BE PROUD! Until next time, Bronco Nation: IN PETE WE TRUST.
