While Chris Burke asked me Question Max DeMara’s answered my question to them. You can see my answers here.
DP:1.Do you feel playing green on green at home gives your team an advantage?
Max DeMara:“As cute an assumption it is to assume green on green gives Michigan
State an advantage, I don’t see that as a big problem or relevant at
all. I don’t view Boise State’s blue on blue as a huge advantage,
either. The Spartans, like the Broncos, have enough variation in
colors to offset the turf. The whole matching color and jersey angle
is simply something for the media to overstate and play up.”
DP:2.Lacking any experience at both pass receiving and at the QB positions what are your reasonable expectations for passing yardage against what are considered by most two of the best CB’s in college Football Gavins and Taylor?
Max DeMara:“Early in the season with a new quarterback and several new
receivers, expectations do have to be tempered a bit. There’s no doubt
Boise State’s corners and defensive backfield have played well in the
past against other passing attacks. I think Andrew Maxwell will have a
solid first game, and find comfort in a few receivers. It’s not
unreasonable to expect 270 yards passing out of him right away.”
DP:3.Considering Boise State advantages in Pass defense over MSU’s pass offense how do you think your B1G ranked 11th out 12 rush attack will fair against a defense that has historical wreck run heavy teams such as V-Tech, Oregon, and TCU ?
Max DeMara:“I think Le’Veon Bell will fare well on the ground. He rushed well
against several great defensive lines last in the Big Ten season that
I’d put above Boise State, such as Wisconsin. Don’t forget about Larry
Caper, who can rush the ball in addition to catch passes out of the
backfield. Both can and will give the Broncos trouble, regardless of
what the statistics say. Each are a load.”
DP:4.Setting the Hype aside for a monument of Gholston and MSU Tops in the B1G sack numbers from last year, how likely do you believe it is against A Boise State OL that returns 6 starters to include Dan Paul, that they might get more than 1 sack against a OL that has ranked tops in all of college football at giving up the fewest sacks 5 in 2008 , 6 in 2009, 6 in 2010 and 7 in 2011? Keep in mind slow foot un-athletic Kellen Moore is no longer there. However Joe Southwick and his 4.5 40 speed replaces him?
Max DeMara:“Michigan State’s defense is much more than just William Gholston.
There’s also a solid group of linebackers led by sack happy Denicos
Allen and hard hitting safety Isiah Lewis. Don’t forget a solid group
of linemen like Anthony Rashad White and Vanderbilt transfer James
Kitteridge. All can pressure the quarterback in unique ways. I think
the Spartans will present the Broncos with their greatest challenge in
pass defense. It doesn’t matter how fast Joe Southwick is, this will
be his first start on the road in a big game. Can he deal with
disguises in coverage and plenty of unique blitz packages in addition
to noise? Michigan State’s defensive line will play up to the
challenge.”
DP:5. Danintoi said Friday on the B1G network that this week game week they are finally going to start game planning and film work for Boise State, do you really believe considering the complexity of both Boise State Offense and Defense that is even going to be enough time to be ready game day?
Max DeMara:“Mark Dantonio has been one of the most successful coaches in the
Big Ten over the past three seasons. His game planning has been second
to none and his teams are always prepared. Expect nothing different
against Boise State. Michigan State has likely been hard at work all
offseason on Bronco film. There’s been plenty of time to prepare
regardless of what Dantonio says the goal this week is for film study.
The Spartans will be more than ready Friday night by kickoff.”
DP:6. On a scale of 1-10 how well do you believe the typical Sparty fan knows the Boise State team that’s coming to East Lansing?
Max DeMara:“I’d say a 6. Michigan State fans, like most college football fans,
know plenty about Boise State and their role as giant killers and BCS
busters over the past eight years. That being said, the Broncos have
lost plenty of players in the past few years, which lends to a lack of
familiarity. In other words, they might not know Joe Southwick, but
they definitely remember Jared Zabransky, Ian Johnson, Titus Young and
Kellen Moore.”

As I had stated in an earilier post Boise State and Michigan State have much in common and I beleive that is nearly as true with their fans.
