Greetings, Bronco Nation, from the mobile office of Orange Jacket Guy; it is again a distinct honor to write to you. I’ve been dragging my feet on this next item, and believe me, I have my reasons, but this shouldn’t be taken as a showing of apathy. There’s been a certain annoyance as of late, who has been touting himself as a Boise State fan and as some sort of weird fan authority of anything sports, which is quite ironic as he is the farthest from any of that.
As with all varying degrees of annoyances and problems, I have a default behavior of just simply ignoring this kind of thing, because most times, it goes away, and if it doesn’t, I have much more cause for action, which I prefer. I must ask an apology from my fellow Broncos and from my Brother and Client, because I have had such cause for a great number of weeks now. It is this very behavior of ignoring and tolerating things that has got me in a lot of trouble in recent years, and sadly my family knows exactly what I am talking about. I also witheld because I like to keep Bronco Nation together.
But here we are, in the gap between the season and the Bowl game we were relegated to, and I am calling out a fake Bronco. This guy likes to tell everyone else he’s the biggest BSU fan, feigns the colors, actively and willingly starts fights with other Broncos over his inflated sense of narcissistic self-worth, belittles others over nothing, and is a overall hot-headed general douche.
I remember when I first met this guy (in person) at the first Kellen Moore signing line. The guy was a pain to be around, compounding the prospect of being there all night and into the morning. I remember others as well as myself never standing around this guy for too long, and only making the shortest of conversation with him.
This guy loves to put on the BSU facade when it goes well for him. He is the epitome of a luke-warm fair-weather fan. He is also one of the people that doubts Coach Pete the most, and when he does, it’s the most foul of language too. (Yes, yes, I know the speech pattern of my fellow writers, and yes, I firmly believe in the first amendement to the United States Constitution, but this guy takes it to an even lower level.)
This guy also had made several egregious sins against Bronco Nation, which include, insulting us as a whole when people didn’t root for the NFL team he liked that week, harassing fans over Facebook for wanting BSU players in last year’s NFL draft to go to teams other than what he liked that week, attempting (and failing) to start fights on Campus on game day, attempting (and failing) to start fights just north of campus on game day, two felony counts of supporting the other team, five misdemeanor counts of disrepescting Stadium grounds, douchebaggery in the first degree, dragging Bronco Nation into personal fights, attaching BSU-fandom to politics, and a score of other classless behaviors.
How are any of us supposed to support this kind of behavior? And yet at the same time, how am I supposed to suggest Bronco Nation deal with this fake? I mean, there are other TRUE dyed-in-the-wool Broncos that consider him a friend, and I am not about to suggest that I have any kind of say about someone else’s friends.
So here’s what I’m going to do, Bronco Nation: I’ll just call him out here and now and I’ll leave the rest of you to do what you will. Richard Phillips of Caldwell, Idaho, you have done these things and we know that you’re fake.
As for the rest of you, Bronco Nation, I don’t believe in harboring and ill-will against you. You have been my compatriots during high and low times. Many of you have earned my respect and trust. I must ask your forgiveness for an otherwise negative article.
Don’t think I’m skipping you Wisconsin; you will get yours. Also, Mountain West, don’t think I’m just letting you go like that either. Also, don’t think I’ll just let the off-season slip by either.
Until next time, Bronco Nation, In Pete We Trust.
