A perfect storm is brewing in Bronco Nation.

A perfect storm is brewing in Bronco Nation.

Note I started this article 10 days ago but as I went through it I thought many would find this just all to rosy, but now even before the silent period has ended one of my high profile recruits has already decomitted from A&M and given a strong verbal to Boise State. With that now having come to pass allow me to dream with you all a little.

While many fan bases around the country either dread their departing coaches for greener pastures, while others only wish their coaches would leave or at least parts of their staff. We in Bronco Nation have been blessed with a return of Bronco talent from every important part of the college football world.

If there is one thing Pete was right about it’s that Boise State is in fine hands, and Pete may sooner rather then later regret that reality. The return of so many Yates, Sanford and Harsin has reopened doors that had all but shut the last couple years and along with them they bring a treasure trove of opportunity. Lets count the ways.

First the return of Bronco football as promised by Coach Harsin is something that brought music to many of us in Bronco Nations ears. No doubt just knowing the pistol offense is no more is a relief in and of itself.  Least we forget however that Harsin spent 3 years in Big 12 and SEC territory and is well known for his offensive genus. While Arkansas State may not offer the plum prospect to pilfer there may be a couple of gems that Coach Harsin may now be able to get to consider Boise State that hadn’t committed to Arkansas State along with one or to that may have.  Let’s take a brief preview on just who may be making some reconsideration.

Cornelius Sturghill ,CB, a 3 star prospect out of Melrose HS Memphis Tenn is one who Harsin made an offer to but has yet to commit, considering he does have offers from Mississippi, Purdue, UCLA and Vanderbilt he is no shoe in, but with Yates now DC and sure to rebuild DBU we defiantly have a fair shot.

Another Tennessean recruited by Harsin is.

Daryl Rollins-Davis RB Fulton HS Knoxville TN. While not highly sought after by FBS schools and though he had not committed to Arkansas State, since Harsin’s move to Boise Daryl has been publically vocal about wanting to be a part of Bronco Nation. We will see if he gets an offer from Harsin now it should be noted the young man played both ways RB, WR, CB, and FS it should be noted the young man has incredible numbers 4,500 yards rushing over 2 years in 27 games with 70 TD’s rushing and 2 receiving. What Harsin decides to do with this young man will speak volumes about what he thinks of his new opportunities.

Evan Martin OG, DL Lee’s Summit West HS Lee’s Summit , Mo. The 6’4” 280 lb’er may only get 2 stars by most recruiting services he does seem to possess those OKG credentials to go with his quick feet for a big man. Has offers from Army, Iowa State, Navy, Air force, VMI and Toledo. He list Ark State as a school of interest Harsin did not offer him but there may be reasons based on Arky States needs. Boise State needs linemen of every kind and considering his offers there is no doubt he has the ability. I could see him being a late signee.

Khari Lain 5’10” 190 lb OLB out of Sandy Creek HS Tyrone Ga. Listed as a 3 start Safety he has committed to Arkansas State early this might be one of those guys Coach gives a call to he is very talented and hard nose footballer.

Blake Mack 6’3” 200lbs of screaming WR out of Lonoke HS, Lonoke Ar. Another Harsin Arky State commit I wouldn’t mind seeing play on the Blue.

Carderious Dean 6’3’ 245 lbs of run stuffing MLB, Caderious is a JC transfer who had already committed to Arky State. While Boise State in my opinion is loaded with talent at MLB, I could see him because of his size and speed playing some DE on the Blue.

Here is where things get a bit more optimistic, with Coach Yates being Texas A&M’s recruit coordinator and now our DC he has several lines of communication open to him on both sides of the ball. While I don’t expect many if any offensive commits to consider leaving A&M but it is possible to pick up a couple that were not offered and or had not committed, as well there may be 1 or 2 defensive commits who might swing Yates way, here is a brief over view of those prospects.

Kyle Allen 6’3” 200lb QB Desert Mountain HS Scottsdale, AZ. Now I know I’m reaching for the gold here considering he is a 5 Star #1 rank QB, but least we forget Stanford has been the QB coach at Stanford now for some years and his last 2 QB’s have made out pretty well and now with him as the OC and Harsin’s commitment to Bronco Offense what QB in his right mind would want to consider the possibilities.  I know he turn down Pete but who wouldn’t after Pete installed the pistol? I also know he has committed to Texas A&M over Alabama, Ohio State, among many others, but I have seen stranger things happen.

Myles Garrett 6’4” 245 out of Martin HS Arlington Texas DE 5 star #6 ranked DE, again going for the gold here and he’s certainly been a solid commit to A&M but remember who recruited him in the first place. With Tank going pro he would have the opportunity of starting right away and with all the Boise State DL in the NFL today he’s got to know he has just as good a chance to make it at the next level at Boise State if not better than he does at A&M. Again he has been another solid commit to A&M passing on all the other bigs, but again based on recent history the young man has to be asked just where do you think you would have the best opportunity to get to the next level?

Nick Harvey 5’10” 170lb of lightening in a bottle played CB at William B Travis HS in Sugar Land TX, recruited as a S , a 4 star ranked #5th overall, personally recruited by Coach Yates to play for Coach Yates. Here again Yates can make a great case for his chances of advancing to the next level as Yates has an outstanding track recorded for building NFL DB’s and no doubt will give the DB’s the chance ever game to show case their skills in his defensive schemes.  Of all the guys this is the one that would be someone I would spend a lot of time in to target he could be a difference maker in 1 to 2 years.

Dylan Sumer-Gardner 6’1” 193lbs of power out of West Mesquite HS in Mesquite, TX.  If not Nick Dylan would be a nice addition at Safety another 4 star recruit ranked #8 recruited by Yates to play for him. I see much George Iloka in the young man, the only question is does he have George’s toughness and brilliance. Update Dylan Has decomitted from A&M and is now a Strong Bronco commit.

Deshawn Washington 6’2” 290lbs DT out of Nederland HS Nederland TX. Another 4 star recruit ranked 11th verbal by Yates. He is a Billy Winn twin and if Billy had been playing ball in Texas instead of AZ he might have gotten all the offers Deshawn got the only question is would he have stood out in other places like he did at Boise State. Another major reach but we can dream can’t we?

Jarrett Johnson 6’3” 225lbs of DE who looks and plays bigger then that out of Seven Lakes HS in Katy, TX. Another 4 star recruit by Yates to A&M who could play multiple positions because of his Athleticism. As an early commit to A&M he didn’t get all the offers some of the others had gotten but still the offer that stands out most to me is the one from Northwestern, certainly this young man has brains as northwestern just doesn’t let anyone on to their campus.  Of all the others this guys track recorder screams OKG and would be a huge get.

As we move down the line here some of these last A&M commits become more possible simple because of the amount of players at those positions create even more competition for playing time.

Armani Watts 5’11” 185lb Safety out of North Forney HS Forney, TX.  4 star 25# ranked recruit by Yates has more of the type of skill set for a CB then a S. In a Safety heavy class at A&M he might open to talking.

Cedric Collins 5’10” 170 lb CB out of Skyline HS Dallas, TX , Though he is only a 3 star and ranked #58th he was highly sought after by many SEC and B12 schools recruited by Yates, there is some scuttlebutt out there that is an over signee and my see his offer pulled by A&M.

Now we get into to those who were recruited by Yates but didn’t verbal and frankly some of these guys might be an even bigger reach then the guys who have already verbal to A&M

Steven Parker 6’2” 185 lbs C B, S out of Jenks HS , Jenks, OK. Ranked the #12 S with a 4 star rating most are projection him a safety based on a belief he lacks recovery ability. He has been offered by just about every major school in the country has visits to Arkansas, Mississippi and Texas A&M has declared no favorite and has yet to be offered by Boise State. Certainly of those recruited by Yates but didn’t verbal this might be a guy who could provide instant results to our hard hit DB’s.

Jimmie Swain 6’3” 225lb 4.53 LB out of Olathe North Sr. HS Olathe, KS ranked #26 4 star recruit has been highly sought after by many schools yet his only visit ironically was to Oregon which leads me to believe he don’t want to be in Kansas anymore. Recruited by Yates but another one of these guys who has shown no favorite.

Jake Blomstrom 6’3” 235 lbs LB out of Katy HS Katy, TX.  A 3 star MLB ranked #37 who recently added Boise State to his list of schools interested in. He wasn’t offered by A&M though considered and may be a guy the staff looks at.

Ismael Murphy-Richardson 6’4” 215 OLB, TE out of Desert Edge HS Goodyear AZ. Ranked #44 as an OLB with a 3 star ranking he was offered by Yates but has not verbal with anyone. Though he is ranked lower then Jake Blomstrom he has several offers from around the country and has taken 2 visits to AZ, and A&M. The fact that both Jake and Ismael are in the same recruiting circles might actually give Jake a bigger chip on his shoulder making him a more likely OKG.

Tim Wilkerson 6’3” 220 lb out of Katy HS in Katy Texas a 3 star DE ranked #90 in a 2014 class that is loaded across the country in DE’s , list Boise State as one of his Medium interest with no offer from Boise State buy his High Interest though he hasn’t verbal is to Washington State and was not recruited by Yates while at would be interesting to see if Boise State reconsiders him. That being said even with all the loss verbal’s since Pete bailed we are somewhat heavy at DE for this class.

Malik Cyphers 5’10” 175lb 4.54 CB out of Oaks Christian HS Westlake Village, CA. As a 3 star CB ranked 106th he has Boise State on his list with no offers. He does have 3 offers from DUI, New Mexico State and UNLV so again this would be another one of those that if offered might open some insight to what is going on with Boise State recruiting as he was not offered by A&M.

Toure Boyd 6’1” 190 lbs CB JC transfer from College of the Desert CA. Toure was offered by Pete to Boise State and did visit the school in 2012, Pete offered him again this year however Yates did not when he was at A&M. Many consider him last year a late season steal for Boise State and we have no information on why he ended up at a JC but as of now he has not verbal with any schools and only has offers from SDSU, Boise State and New Mexico State. The question is after Coach changes is weather his offer from Boise State still stands?

Now for Sanfords list

Keller Chryst 6’3” 215lb 4 star #2 Ranked QB Well if we can’t get A&M’s QB why not the head of Stanford recruiting as well as their former QB coach and now current Boise State OC Mike Sanford, I know going for the gold again right? But just think change 2 letters in Kellers name and we get Kellen Christ.. Talk about second comings. If there is one spot on this team that is wide open it’s QB.

Casey Tucker 6’6” 290 lbs OT out of Hamilton HS Chandler, AZ. If there is one guy that already looks like a man it him. 5 star #3 ranking has yet to decide though it looks like it’s between AZ State and Stanford, he does have a standing offer from Boise State and has us listing like everyone else in the world low interest. I’m going to tell you this guy is going to be a straight up stud and of all the others mentioned his would be the most shocking.

While I may be dreaming and there are more to consider to include those Boise State has offered but remain uncommited. I will do a follow up soon .
