DC United (3-4-1) continues their busy week when FC Dallas (3-3-1) comes to RFK. Both teams are coming off big wins and will be looking for another win this Saturday. DC finds themselves with a great opportunity to make this small homestand count for something. After getting 3 big points against Seattle on Wednesday (probably the biggest win thus far this season), DC has a great chance to get more points today. Earlier, I had suggested that DC at least pick up 5 points in these three matches, but now I believe that 7 points can be picked up.
Dax McCarty is playing against his old team on Saturday. After starting the season off a little cold, McCarty had a better match against Seattle on Wednesday. Hopefully, he will be able to keep that up this weekend. United continues to roll with a very young defense. Although, they might be searching for a veteran defensive player to help them out down the road, this team of young-guns is slowly finding their way. With Branko Boskovic out, Andy Najar will look to be counted on again. He also turned in a strong performance against Seattle, and just like McCarty, I hope he can continue to be creative and create chances.
Speaking of Boskovic, I have to question how useful he really is for DC United. He is a great player and has done a good job getting his home country of Montenegro into the spotlight with the Euro 2012 qualifying. I am not convinced that he is worth DP money. He has taken a long time to “get used” to the style of MLS, and now he is on the shelf with an ACL tear. I understand that the injury is out of his control, but I haven’t been convinced that he is what DC United needs right now. If Boskovic is let go of (which ought to happen), they could use the money to try keeping Davies on the squad for the next few years.
Lastly, this match, along with others this weekend, will be FREE on MLS Matchday Live. So if you get a chance, check it out! Especially if you’re like me (a DC United fan nowhere near Washington, DC). This will be a great chance to see some free soccer.
