Late Goal Seals Latest Loss for KC

June 9th can’t come soon enough for Sporting fans. This is no truer than after Sporting’s latest defeat to Seattle. The Kansas City club has now only been able to muster 1 point out of their last 7 league matches.

Sporting came out and looked like they might be changing their fortunes with a good goal scoring opportunity by Ryan Smith early on. However, the play leveled out with not too many chances for either team for the rest of the match. Unfortunately for Sporting and their fans the Sounders were able to get a very late winner on a questionable corner kick that was converted on a header by Jeff Parke.

Overall, it has been a disappointing road trip for Sporting as now they can no longer try and merely “outscore” opponents as they were doing earlier this season. The offense has started to slow down with only 3 goals in the last 5 matches.

As to the question on if Peter Vermes should be fired; Sporting fans seem to be split down the middle. Some think that due to the extended road trip he should be allowed some leeway and given a pass until late June/early July. Others think that they need to make a change to try and turn the season around. I am one that thinks some of his decisions have been questionable and his message has started to wear a bit thin with the players. I think that he will get another week maybe two but if they can’t get at least two points out of the next two league matches it will be time to part ways.

Up next for Sporting will be Colorado and they will have extra fan support as many fans are making the trip out to watch the club before Livestrong Sporting Park opens next month.
