One Year of Total-MLS, Thank You

It’s almost surreal to think that it’s been a year since Total-MLS was born. Saturday will mark the one year anniversary of the site launching. There was a short hiatus in the fall because of my marriage (well worth it), but we’re now into our second season covering Major League Soccer. Total-MLS started as an idea in my head. I remember sharing this idea with my then fiancée, now wife, at dinner celebrating my birthday. I told her that I had an idea to find passionate fans like myself of all MLS teams and combine the coverage on one website.

I had previously worked with some other Bloguin sites and approached them about hosting the site. A couple of weeks later, after some great work by the Bloguin folks, Total-MLS was born. I just wanted to take this space and this time to say thank you to everyone who has helped make Total-MLS what it is today.

Thank you first and foremost to the guys at Bloguin for helping to take my idea and get it off the ground. Thanks to Ben, Derek, Dave, and all the guys behind the scenes there. It’s a privilege to be a part of such a great network. If you have never done so, I would highly recommend going to the Bloguin homepage and checking out some of the great sites on the network.

Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to check out the website and read the articles. Nothing makes me happier than knowing that somewhere, someone read something on Total-MLS and learned something about their favorite team or player. Without the readers the site would be nothing. Thank you.

Thank you to the writers of Total-MLS, both current and past. Everyone who has ever written anything on Total-MLS has done so purely because they love Major League Soccer and their team. Soccer fans are the most passionate people you can find and it shows in our articles. I haven’t met anyone who writes on our site but I feel they are all my friends. Thank you to all of you.

Thank you to the MLS players who have supported us. Big thanks to Chris Wingert, Justin Braun, Colin Clark, Mike Chabala, Danny Cruz, Bobby Boswell, Geoff Cameron, Chris Wondolowski, Drew Moor, Nick Rimando and a number of other guys I am probably forgetting. MLS players really are the nicest guys around. Thank you.

Thank you to MLS teams and their staffs and the league office. Every person I or someone with Total-MLS has worked with has been professional, very courteous, and helpful. Special thanks to the folks at Toronto FC, Houston Dynamo, FC Dallas, San Jose Earthquakes, Chivas USA, Sporting Kansas City, and Chicago Fire who have gone above and beyond for us. Thank you.

Thank you to the websites and blogs who have helped us along the way. Big thanks to Luke at MLS Reserves, Zach at Dynamo Theory, Matthew at US Futblog, Kristi, Kayla and all the ladies at Women United FC, and many others. There are so many great soccer blogs out there and it’s like a family the way everyone interacts and helps each other out. Thank you.

In closing, thank you to everyone who has helped make the first year of Total-MLS more than I could have ever imagined. The support and respect the site has gotten will only help us grow. Here’s to an even better year two and beyond.
