Raiders Land QB Flynn, Trade Palmer To Cardinals

After the Oakland Raiders completed the trade to bring in quarterback Matt Flynn from the Seattle Seahawks it meant looking ahead and finding another trade partner to take on the contract of Carson Palmer. It was announced today that he was sent to the Arizona Cardinals.

The Cardinals not only got Palmer received a 2013 seventh-round pick from the Raiders as well sent over in the deal was a a 2013 sixth-round pick and a conditional seventh-round pick in 2014. It allows for Oakland to move up from the no.219 spot to no.176 and the 2014 pick will come if 13 are started by Carson. I

In the two seasons Palmer was with the franchise he became the leader of a team in rebuilding mode and in 2012 threw for over 4,000 yards and 22 touchdowns. With his age he wasn’t the one to build the team around making the move necessary.  h

One reason is that he was unwilling to take a pay-cut offered by general manager Reggie McKenzie, which meant that his days with the franchise were numbered.

Cardinals coach Bruce Arians now has a capable quarterback to get the ball into the hands of wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald. The only concern is can the offensive line protect Palmer who is not a mobile quarterback. This move means that Arizona will certainly take an offensive linemen in the draft.
