According to multiple sources, Brandon Jennings has been traded to the Detroit Pistons. Even though everybody expected Jennings to accept Bucks’ qualifying offer (1 year/4.5M deal) he hasn’t done that and Bucks decided that it’s in their best interest to move him.
Bucks and Pistons will do sign and trade deal. Jennings will agree to a 3 year deal worth 24 million dollars with Bucks and then he will be traded to the Pistons for Brandon Knight, Slava Kravtsov and Khris Middleton.
Jennings is very talented young player but he has declined after his rookie year. In his four season so far in the NBA, he had just one season when he shot over 40% from the field. Often takes very difficult shots and sometimes he is not trying to get to the rim at all. But as I said, he is still very young, 24 years of age so he can still improve his decision-making. Throughout his 4 year career, he averaged 17.0 points and 5.7 assists per game, all of that by playing 34.6 minutes per game.
Let’s take a look Pistons’ projected starting lineup:
Is this team good enough to make the Playoffs? Sure it is. But will they make some noise in the east. Not likely, at least not this season. But if Jennings improves his game and takes it to another level, and with possible emergence of Drummond and Monroe, Pistons will have bright future, that’s for sure.
