Cleveland Browns: Three Dawg Bones to a “W”

Coming off the victory against the Cincinnati Bengals, the Cleveland Browns host the Buffalo Bills on Thursday night in front of a national audience. The Browns seem to have new hope in third string quarterback, Brian Hoyer. Here are three things the Browns must do in order to get the win on Thursday.

Dawg Bone #1

 Shutdown Mr. Spiller

While CJ Spiller has not got out of the gates quite as fast as he would have liked, the guy is a game breaker. As long as he plays, Spiller is a threat to the Browns. With his quick feet and above average speed, Spiller is a home run hitter that can change the momentum of a game real fast. In last year’s contest vs. the Browns, Spiller left with an injury but not before scoring a rushing touchdown. Still, Spiller may not play saying in yesterday’s press conference, “If it was a Sunday game, I would definitely say I would be out there. But like I said  I am going to do everything I can to position myself to be out there,  If I can get my self to 80 to 85 percent, I think that will be good enough for me to play.” If Spiller doesn’t play, Fred Jackson or Tashard Choice will start.

Dawg Bone #2

Make a Rookie QB play like a Rookie QB

At the end of the day, EJ Manuel is a rookie quarterback. Defensive coordinator, Ray Horton would be smart to throw some different looks at the rookie. Manuel is coming off a two interception performance against the Ravens. Manuel was not the reason the Bills beat the Ravens, it was the Bills defense forcing five turnovers. If the Browns can fluster this rookie, it could make for a great day in the Cleveland secondary.

Keep the Momentum Rolling

Since the Trent Richardson trade, not one Cleveland team has lost a game. Call it whatever it is, but why change that? The city of Cleveland is riding high with the Tribe and Browns. There is no reason why it can’t continue. Hoyer has managed games and proved twice now that he can lead the team. This is a chance to show the world that the Browns are not the laughing-stock of the NFL anymore and just maybe, critics and experts should look elsewhere for the team truly holds that title (Maybe, a little east of Cleveland). Between Wednesday and Thursday, there will be over 125,000 people filling downtown Cleveland. The Browns must feed off the energy.
