According to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport, the Dallas Cowboys are looking at the possibility of trading running back DeMarco Murray before the trade deadline.
Rapoport says the Cowboys do not view Murray as a franchise running back and could be looking to part ways with the oft-injured back with the NFL’s Week 8 trade deadline on the horizon.
There could be a decent trade market for Murray’s services, as he is a good player when he is healthy — the question about the former Oklahoma Sooner is will he remain healthy?
Murray has had multiple injuries throughout his career, although he is a solid running back, as he averages four yards per carry.
However, his injuries are quickly becoming a major hurdle for the Cowboys to overcome, as Dallas’ offense is inconsistent when Murray is not on the field. Quarterback Tony Romo has been plagued by problems with consistency during his NFL career, and having a one-dimensional offense hurts the Cowboys production even more.
The Cowboys are looking to make a splash in “a big way” when it comes to the chances of trading Murray, and it remains to be seen what direction Dallas will go regarding their running back issues.
Either way, it appears that Murray’s days as a Dallas Cowboy may be numbered.
