Mariners Sign 2B Robinson Cano to 10-Year $240 Million Deal : Free-agent second baseman, Robinson Cano signed the fourth largest contract in baseball history after agreeing to a ten-year $240 million deal with the Seattle Mariners. For the 2013 season with the New York Yankees, Cano hit .314, hit 24 home runs and drove in 107 runs batted in in 160 games. 

Yanks Ink OF Carlos Beltran To 3-Year $45 Million Deal : After losing 2B Robinson Cano to the Seattle Mariners, the New York Yankees signed Carlos Beltran to a three-year, $45 million deal. Beltran, 36, formerly of the St Louis Cardinals, hit .296 with 84 runs batted, 24 HR’s in 145 games.   

Huskies Tab Chris Petersen as New head Coach : After leading BCS-buster Boise State to two Fiesta Bowl wins, Chris Petersen was tabbed as the new head coach of the Washington Huskies. 92-12 in eight seasons, Peterson replaces out-going head coach Steve Sarkisian, whom accepting the head coaching job at Pac-12 rival, USC. 

Lakers Kobe Bryant to Make Return vs Raptors : After rupturing his Achilles tendon April, Los Angeles Lakers shooting guard Kobe Bryant will make his 2013-14 season debut Sunday against the Toronto Raptors. Averaging 38.6 minutes at the age of 35, Bryant averaged 27.3 points, 6.0 assists and 5.6 rebounds.

Texans Fire Gary Kubiak : After a 27-20 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars and back-to-back division titles, the 2-11 Houston Texans fired head coach Gary Kubiak Friday. A 61-64 record in seven season in Houston, Kubiak will be replaced by defensive coordinator Wade Phillips. 

USMNT Drawn into 2014 FIFA World Cup “Group Of Death” : The United States Men’s National Team(USMNT) was drawn into the “group of death” Friday. With the FIFA World Cup set for Brazil in 2014, the United States will play in Group G with World Cup powers Germany, Portugal and nemesis, Ghana, whom has knocked out the Americans in their last two Wold Cup matches.
