The Cleveland Browns fired Rob Chudzinski on Sunday night after a 20-7 loss against the Pittsburgh Steelers. This is a surprise because it was only his first season as head coach.

There was all kinds of speculation about his lack of decisiveness and the collapse in the second half of the season. The front office clearly isn’t afraid to go against the grain if they don’t like what they see.

The Browns will begin their search immediately. Some candidates already mentioned include Bill O’ Brien and Josh McDaniels. O’ Brien is rumored to be the favorite for the Houston Texans job and McDaniels is going to the playoffs with the Patriots. A person worth mentioning is Jim Schwartz. If he is fired by the Detroit Lions, he may be a candidate because of his connection to Mike Lombardi.

Either way, this is an odd move and Browns fans will throw up their hands in frustration. It is another weird moment for a franchise that is stuck in a perpetual rebuild.
