Giants offensive tackle Ereck Flowers has been under a lot of scrutiny after he was accused of shoving a reporter following Sunday’s 23-16 loss to the Packers, but has since apologized.
Flowers hasn’t spoken with the media since the incident in question happened, but Giants head coach Ben McAdoo said the offensive lineman called the reporter on Monday and apologized, according to Tom Rock of Newsday.
“I talked to Ereck, [Giants general manager] Jerry [Reese] talked to Ereck, and [the team’s public relations staff] talked to Ereck,” McAdoo said. “We had a chance to sit him down. He called and spoke to Jordan and apologized. He understands that he cannot behave that way. It’s unacceptable. It’s important for us all to have a professional relationship with the media, players and coaches.”
McAdoo added that the team will deal with the incident in-house, and wouldn’t comment on whether or not the Giants will discipline Flowers.
Flowers was likely frustrated after the loss, as he struggled in pass protection and was responsible for Manning getting hit multiple times in the game.
The reporter, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com, did not comment about the incident since Flowers apologized, but he did say this on Twitter early Monday morning.

Hopefully Flowers learned his lesson and this can serve as a teaching point about the media’s role in covering football.
