Nobody can say San Diego Chargers running back Melvin Gordon isn’t trying.
In the middle of a monster sophomore campaign, Gordon has turned heads and done his part to help the team to a 3-4 record.
His motivation after a disappointing debut season? People telling him his team sucked, according to ESPN Milwaukee:
Gordon: I would tell people I played for the @chargers, or they’d know and they said ‘man you guys suck.’ I got so tired of hearing that.

Funny, but the Chargers did, winning all of four games while Gordon struggled to 641 yards and no scores on a 3.5 per-carry average.
This year? Gordon already has an eye-popping eight touchdowns. He’s only averaging 3.3 yards per carry, but the pass-first team doesn’t mind getting him in range before letting him run wild.
Gordon’s uptick in production has helped the Chargers come within one win of their total from a year ago—and it’s only Week 8.
While he might hear plenty about his team still, it’s an improvement for an injury-riddled roster.
