Hassan Whiteside gets motivated by his fish tank

For Miami Heat center Hassan Whiteside, motivation comes from an unlikely source—his fish tank.

“I’m motivated when I wake up. I eat breakfast, I get more motivated. I look at my fish tank, I get even more motivated,” Whiteside told reporters Friday, according to Anthony Chiang of the Palm Beach Post.

What about the fish tank motivates Whiteside?

“The way they can swim all day and not really do nothing,” he said. “It must be nice.”

Whiteside had a 1,500 gallon fish tank installed in his home by producers of the Animal Planet series “Tanked.” It’s filled with exotic fish and it’s pretty amazing. See for yourself.

Whiteside must have been staring at his fish tank a lot leading up to Wednesday’s season opener against the Orlando Magic. He finished with 18 points, 14 rebounds and four blocks in a 108-96 victory.
