City 6 Cup 2

Today’s Action

7:00 PM: Pennsylvania (8-20, 5-6 Ivy) @ Brown (12-14, 6-6 Ivy)

Coming off their best win of the season against Harvard, the Quakers look to carry that momentum into Providence to take on the Brown Bears, where they will ask ‘What Do You See?’.  Brown enters play riding a three-game winning streak, though the three victories were against the bottom three teams in the Ivy League.  The Bears are a poor offensive squad, ranking toward the bottom in offensive rating, no doubt hurt by a subpar 40.6 FG% on the season.

Pennsylvania won the first meeting between these teams last month in a rout, 71-48.  Penn’s Miles Cartwright scored a career-high 28 points in that game, shooting 5-6 from behind the arc.  His efforts on the offensive end combined with an ice-cold shooting night from the Bears (who went 29.8% from the field and 2-18 3PT), were more than enough for a Quakers’ victory that evening.

Penn should aspire to finish .500 in conference play, which would mean winning 2 of its final three games.  With a tough game against conference leader Princeton set for the season finale, a win here is almost essential to the reach that goal.  If Cartwright can approach his excellent performance from the earlier contest and Freshman Tony Hicks can continue his emergence of late, I like the Quakers’ chances here to pull of a mild upset.
