The San Francisco 49ers made a little piece of history on Sunday, but don’t expect Chip Kelly’s team to start celebrating the achievement.
According to ESPN Stats and Information, the 49ers became the first team in NFL history to allow a 100-yard rusher in seven straight games when running back Mark Ingram rushed for 158 yards during the New Orleans Saints’ 41-23 win over San Francisco.

Ingram joined Jacquizz Rodgers, LeSean McCoy, David Johnson, Ezekiel Elliott, Christine Michael and Fozzy Whittaker as the seventh 100-yard rusher against the 49ers in the last seven weeks. San Francisco has allowed 1,609 rushing yards over the last seven games, including 810 during just the last three games.
The Saints rushed for a season high 248 yards on Sunday.
Kelly said everyone is to blame for the problems.
“I think it’s everybody’s fault on the defensive side,” Kelly said, via NBC Bay Area.“We have to do a better job of putting our players in position to make plays. That’s all of us. That’s me. That starts with the head coach.”
The 49ers can extend their record streak in Week 10, when San Francisco travels to Arizona to play Johnson and the Cardinals for the second time this season.
