It doesn’t sound like Kansas City Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles will return anytime soon.
Charles found himself sidelined and unable to return after a slight knee issue required a scope earlier this year.
Thursday, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport revealed Charles needed yet another scope, albeit on the other knee:

Charles only appeared in three games this year, rushing for 40 yards and a score. The original idea was the Chiefs could have him back near the end of the season, seeing as scopes aren’t a major ordeal. That timetable now seems up in the air.
If both knees hold up from here on out, the Chiefs could have Charles back by the playoffs. The team sits first in the AFC West at 7-2, so i barring a major collapse, Kansas City will reach the postseason.
While Charles recovers, the Chiefs will turn to Spencer Ware and Charcandrick West, if not Knile Davis, who is back for the second or third time now.
Keep in mind Charles’ ability to get back on the field could impact his future with the Chiefs as a whole. The team cutting him lose over the offseason would save $7 million.
