The Chicago Bulls suspended point guard Rajon Rondo after he got into an argument with a coach on the sidelines recently.
Now star Jimmy Butler has weighed in on the matter.
First, the suspension. The Vertical’s Adrian Wojnarowski shared the report:
Rajon Rondo — suspended for tonight's game — had a "heated exchange" with a Bulls assistant in Mavericks loss, sources tell @TheVertical.

The confrontation in the aftermath of Saturday night’s loss to the Dallas Mavericks, directed primarily at top assistant coach Jim Boylen, led to the organizational suspension for “conduct detrimental to the team.” Rondo apologized to the coaching staff and his teammates on Sunday, and as one source said, “took responsibility for it.”
Rondo has a history of clashing with coaches, so most probably rolled their eyes at this report. His causing problems in Chicago would make more than a few fans say “I told you so.”
Alas, Butler stressed folks should pump the brakes on such analysis, according to the Chicago Tribune‘s Chris Kue and K.C. Johnson:
“I think this is just another bump in the road,” Butler said. “He’s a phenomenal damn teammate and I back him on everything.
“These things happen and when things happen you handle it the way you’re supposed to handle it,” Butler added. “I think we all love Rondo. I know I do. He’s been a great mentor to me, he’s made me a much better basketball player. We’ve got to go out and get one (Monday night).”
Butler has done a great job here of putting out a potential fire like a good leader should. He’s right in that these things happen, too, though the extreme nature of this one resulted in a suspension.
The next few months will show whether this was a minor speed bump or the development of something more.
