Cowboys Do Unsaintly Things to New Orleans in 38-17 Victory

610x4

Wow, what a hell of a game. There’s something beautiful seeing Dez Bryant and Tony Romo celebrating together at the end of the game. There was something we hadn’t seen like this from the Cowboys in years, they looked like a dominant team, especially with the defense.

I’ll tell you what, our offensive line has arrived, we look dominant and truly something we have not enjoyed since the 90’s. We’re seeing ability to dictate a game from our running game first, and passing second. When you have that ability and have a good defense, we can win some more games.

Tonight was a good win, we needed this win, and we came out fast and furious on both sides of the ball. We lost Claiborne to a sprained knee and we didn’t miss a beat. We don’t need him, Sterling Moore has cemented himself as the #3CB, and tonight’s performance was really good.

Here are my takes on the game:

  • We finally have an identity on offense. We are going to run the ball on you, and we’re going to make you take it. The rebuilt offensive line is mauling people and they will continue to get better each game, and that’s scary.
  • The staff came out with a great gameplan on defense and offense. They played well, and fed off each other, it was something nice to see.
  • Getting Spencer back is going to a nice boost to the defense, and we already saw his effect tonight. I’ve never been a big Spencer fan, but if he can have a renaissance year, we have to potential to being a top 5 defense. I like the upward tick each game on defense.
  • The turnovers are starting to come. I like how the defensive players are flying around; hitting people; pressuring the QB. The defense is coming around. Tyrone Crawford in the 3-tech should be where we keep him. He looks to create more havoc from there.
  • DeMarco Murray is making his case for a new contract; but what about Dez Bryant. I wonder if the Cowboys would extend Murray before Dez. I still want to see the durability, he’s getting a heavier load than he ever has, so I want to see if he can take these many carries.
  • Melton got his first full solo sack tonight, although it was in basic garbage time. Just keep them coming!
  • Michael Irvin is more of a real Cowboy than Dieon, from the post game show, lol.
  • Killer Instinct: Do we have it? We were up 31-3 and all the sudden we’re at 31-17 in the 4th quarter and we are getting nervous. We should be able to close out a team a full 60mins, because that 4th quarter was poor on both sides of the ball.
  • We are tied #1 in the NFC East. Philly lost against the 49ers, so we are both 3-1 now.
  • Zack Martin is a beast, absolutely stoning everyone in his way. A great 1st round pick, that is legit in his rookie year.
  • Romo is looking more like himself. Romo was able to evade defenders and moved around pretty good. He may need this same skill when JJ Watt gets to town next Sunday.
  • Expect to see Tyler Patmon activated for next week with Claiborne injured.

This was a great game, and really showcased their potential against the Saints. We host the Houston Texans  next Sunday and it’ll be between two 3-1 teams. Someone’s going home and it better be the Texans. Let’s go Dallas!
