At the NFL Owners annual spring meeting a new rule was passed 30-2 in favor of moving the extra point to the 15-yard line from the previous spot of the 2-yard line.

The rule change will go into effect this year, so after each TD, the extra point will be a glorified 32-33 yard field goal kick.  This change will put a bit more pressure on kickers to make the extra point.

Thankfully, the Cowboys have one of the best kickers in the league with Dan Bailey.

Bailey signed a 7-yr contract extension last year which will keep him in Dallas through the 2020 season.

The 2-point conversion will remain at the 2-yard line. Lastly, extra point attempts whether it’s a 1 or 2-point conversion are now available to be returned by defense via a fumble recovery or interception and the resulting defensive score will be 2-points.
