Cowboys Reach 53-man limit; Devin Street Amongst Cuts

Devin Street

The Cowboys are now at the league mandated 53-man limit.

Here are your cuts:

WR Devin Street

WR Andy Jones

WR Vince Mayle

TE Rico Gathers

TE Austin Traylor

DE Ryan Russell

QB Jerrod Johnson

LB Derek Akunne

C Jake Brendel

DT Rodney Coe

S Isaiah Frey

LB Brandon Hepburn

LB Deon King

OT Ryan Mack

DE Mike McAdoo

DT Lawrence Okoye

OG Boston Stiverson

P Matt Wile

OT Bryan Witzmann

CB Deji Olatoye

Devin Street headlines the cuts, but perhaps more interesting is that J.J. Wilcox is still on the team — wow.

Looks like they had more value with FB Rod Smith, as he made the team over Austin Traylor. Not sure I agree with Traylor going over Geoff Swaim, but oh well.

DE Ryan Russell didn’t make enough of a jump to be kept.

TE Rico Gathers is the only 2016 draft pick that did not make the team. I’m very very pleased that Darius Jackson is on the team, I believe he’ll play a important role on special teams and next year as well.

Darren McFadden has been stashed away and will not be able to join the team until after week 6.

Tony Romo was not put on IR from what I can tell. I’ll keep an eye on that.

This will not be the final roster by any means. The Cowboys are busy sifting through the waiver wire, so some more moves will be expected over the next few days. We’ll see if the Cowboys add another QB and add depth at DE or LB.
