The Cowboys come into week 6 with the #1 running attack in the league, and they’ll get a test against the Green Bay Packers #1 run defense. Something has to give, but I’m going to have to go with our line, we have the beef.
We thought last weeks game against the Bengals would be a close one and it was not, and I wonder if this week will be the same. Are we under estimating how dominating the Cowboys offensive line has been? They absolutely mauled the vaunted Bengals defensive line, and this week could be another one for the big boys up front.
Here are my takes on the game:
- We need another solid performance from Terrell McClain and Maliek Collins. We aren’t sure which GB running back will start, but if Eddie Lacy gets going, it could open up the Packers devastating passing game. We need to shut them down, and I think our resurrected secondary will handle business.
- Demarcus Lawrence will get his second game back, and I expect him to start where he left off last week. He had some hurries, and now needs to follow-up with some sacks.
- If Dak Prescott wins this game or wins it decisively then the roars will increase for him to remain the starter. On the flipside, what if he looks mortal and looks bad? The Packers defense can do that to you. Will people jump ship and say Romo needs to start after the bye? I’m sure that side will roar just as loud. Let’s see what happens.
- Ezekiel Elliott is in a groove. I expect some adversity in this game, and I’m interested in seeing how he responds. I want to see that swagger no matter what. Pop off another home run or two and we’re in business.
- Dan Bailey will probably get the call a few times in this game, so I want to see where he’s at physically. We really haven’t seen him kick from far out since his injury was revealed two weeks ago. Please don’t miss.
- Lance Dunbar is a scratch for the game, and I wonder if he doesn’t improve over the bye week if we don’t see him have a scope on his knee. Would we then see Darius Jackson after the bye. Keep an eye on that situation.
- Terrance Williams has had two good games, and we’ll need him to come up big again this week. Please no drops or hiccups!
- Mo Claiborne keep doing what you’re doing.
Those are my areas to watch against the Packers. This could give the Cowboys some serious momentum going into the bye week. I want to see the offense take the will of the Packers defense and let’s get rolling towards the big showdown against the Eagles.
Let’s go Dallas!
