The Cavs cruised to their fifth consecutive win on Tuesday night after defeating Memphis by a score of 103-86.
Some scribbles from tonight’s win over Memphis
- Good JR Smith finally returned. For the first time since November 11, Smith hit double figures in scoring. He totaled 17 points in the first half alone, which tied his previous season high. He finished the evening with 23 points on 8-17 from the floor including 6-10 from deep.
- Kyrie Irving did not participate in the win over Memphis for resting purposes. He is expected to play the Grizzles in Memphis on Wednesday night. DeAndre Liggins got the start in his place. It’s become evident that Liggins has earned a spot in the rotation for the time being while the Cavaliers are healthy. His defensive enthusiasm is the reason he is out there, and developing any offensive game would be a plus for the 28-year-old journeyman. He drew three offensive fouls Tuesday.
- Kevin Love scored 20 points for the fifth consecutive game. This is the first time that he has done this while wearing wine and gold.
- Even with the absence of Irving, the Cavs were still able to have three different players top the 20 point mark. Love lead the scoring with a game high 29, LeBron James finished with 23, as did Smith. The Cavs are now 11-1 with three players above 20 points. All three of them took 17 shots. Love and James finished 9-17 and Smith was 8-17.
- For any uniform nerds out there, the Cavs improved to 5-0 in white jerseys.
