Gregg Popovich may have given Craig Sager a hard time on numerous occasions during in-game interviews over the years, but the two were very close friends.
There aren’t too many reporters that Popovich really likes, let alone has a great deal of respect for, and it really speaks to the type of person that Sager is.
Popovich was asked about Sager after Thursday night’s 107-92 win over the Suns, and he did an excellent job reflecting back on the reporter’s legacy. Pop was not interested in talking about the game, saying “basketball has to to take a back seat” after the tragic passing of Sager, who had battled leukemia for years.
