The Dallas Cowboys absolutely destroyed the Detroit Lions in the 2nd half of their 42-21 blowout win. The Lions defense did not have an answer for Linehan and the offense looked scary.
Defensively, the Cowboys looked very shaky in the 1st half and appeared to be going through the motions, but you have to know Rod Marinelli chewed some ass and we saw a dominant defense in the second half of the game.
Here are my takes on the game:
- This was a vintage offensive showing. I’m talking about the three biggest weapons showing up big: Dak; Zeke; and Dez. The Cowboys of the ’90s had monster games from their triplets and this game had all those hallmarks. Beautiful.
- Terrance Williams, who was that guy? He showed up big and had a drive to himself that got the team in scoring position.
- The offensive line made the offense hum, and they mauled the Lions defensive line. This ended up being a statement game and by the end the Lions looked defeated. We took their will.
- Dez Bryant had an amazing day. 2 TDs and 1 passing TD. Who knew he was left handed?
- David Irving had another good game and proved he could hold up against better competition in Riley Reiff.
- Randy Gregory had a game I expected. He looked out of football shape and a non-factor most of the game. He suffered an oblique injury as well, so he’ll be questionable the rest of the way.
- Sean Lee did not get to the holes in the 1st half, but those holes were absent in the 2nd hald. Barry Church was the lead tackler in this game.
- Jason Witten did not get Irvin’s record, but he is 27 yards from having the receiving yards record.
- Chris Jones made the highlight reel with his monstrous decleating hit on the Lions punt returner.
- Tyron Smith left in the 4th quarter, but Jason Garrett sounded optimistic about his return, nothing serious.
- Dak Prescott is creating his own signature on his wins, and this is a signature Prescott win. 15/20 212 yards and 3 TDs, zero turnovers.
- 3rd efficiency was 50% as they went 4/8 on those conversions.
- Cowboys defense once again held their running back to under 100 yards and no receiver got 100 yards either.
- 2nd half adjustments won this game
The Cowboys move to 13-2, with the final game next Sunday in Philadelphia. Who gets your gameball? Take the poll below.
