The Bruins had a very busy first round as they picked 3 players all in a row. Yes, you heard that correctly the Bruins had picks 13, 14, and 15 in the 2015 NHL Draft. The Bruins made two big trades prior to the draft. One of those trades being Dougie Hamilton to Calgary for the 15th pick in the draft and two second round picks (No. 45 and 52). The second trade being Lucic to the Kings for a first round pick (No.13) and two players, goaltender Martin Jones and defenceman Colin Miller.

With the 13th pick in the draft the Bruins selected Jakub Zboril from the Czech Republic. Zboril is an 18 year old 6’0″, left handed defenceman, who played for Saint John’s in the QMJHL (Quebec Major Junior Hockey League). Zboril is a real two-way defenseman, he is very fast on the back check and will create quality score chances in the opponents zone. Elite Prospects has Zboril ranked as a low-risk, high-reward type of player.

With the 14th pick in the draft the Bruins selected Jake Debrusk from Edmonton, Canada. Debrusk is a 6’0″, left wing, who played for Swift Current in the WHL (Western Hockey League). Debrusk is a two-way winger with good scoring ability. He is willing to battle in the dirty area’s but he will not beat you up physically. He has a very high hockey IQ and will always try to find the smart play. Debrusk shows great creativity when skating with the puck and is always a threat below the hash marks.

With the 15th and final Bruins first round pick they selected Zachary Senyshyn from Ottawa, Canada. Senyshyn is an 18 year old, 6″1″, right wing, who played for Sault STE. Marie in the OHL (Ontario Hockey League). Senyshyn is a very smart offensive player. He is very well positioned in both the offensively and defensively. Senyshyn has good size and knows how to play the body. But there are a few things he needs to work such as transition time, and controlling the puck on his stick. But with his leadership mentality he will do what is necessary to get better.
