Here is my first round projection as to what teams before possible trades will do with their respective picks in the first round (Note: I’m still mad about losing our 1st round pick but I’m satisfied with 11 picks)
Tennessee- Laremy Tunsil OT Ole Miss
A simple pick that will turn into good things for Tennessee, Tunsil has all the physical attributes to be a great young blind side protector for Mariota. At 6’5 and 310 pounds, Tunsil shows mobility and great athleticism on the line and uses it to his advantage. If Tennessee were to pick the safest player in this draft, Tunsil is your guy and it will pay off down the road. Great pick and makes the most sense.
Cleveland- Paxton Lynch QB Memphis
Most people would disagree with my pick right here but to me personally, Lynch makes sense in Cleveland. NFL experts say that Lynch needs time to develop into a trusted pocket passer and at times a dual threat weapon but in Cleveland, they need someone fast to step up to the plate and I think Lynch can deliver with his shear presence (6’7 and 245 pounds) and his leadership qualities.
San Diego- Joey Bosa DE Ohio State
Character issues off the field need to be attended to but Bosa is a legit talent that can thrive in San Diego as the Chargers don’t have that one superstar edge rusher. Bosa is a pure athlete that will bully offensive lineman and is capable of gathering double digit sack numbers yearly no question. Roll the dice San Diego and if Bosa is there, grab him.
Dallas- Jalen Ramsey DB Florida State
Most experts would flip my 3 and 4 picks with Bosa and Ramsey but I think this is a great match. A defensive back that can be a corner or safety in the secondary for Dallas, Ramsey fills the void for the secondary of Dallas and is a pure athlete that has a track background and has great man coverage skills. Jerry Jones better not screw this pick up.
Jacksonville- DeForest Buckner DE Oregon
At 6’7 and 290 pounds, the physical skills Buckner has is beyond protocol and what Jacksonville needs to boost that defense is a new edge rusher that will grow up with the system and Buckner can rejuvenate the edge rushing.
Baltimore- Myles Jack LB UCLA
A risky move by Baltimore can pay off immensely down the road with Jack. Injuries have plagued Jack over the course of his collegiate career and coming into the pros, your even more susceptible to injuries. A dynamic player that in college played on offense and defense from time to time, Jack has the potential of Ray Lewis of what one report said and with pairing up with LB C.J. Mosely, the Ravens have a core that can go far.
San Francisco- Ronnie Stanley OT Notre Dame
Stanley is a tough nose Notre Dame kid and the 49ers could essentially use anyone on their roster that has potential. Taking an offensive lineman early, especially Stanley, can set up for drafting a QB later in the draft.
Philadelphia- Jared Goff QB Cal
This to me is a perfect system for the perfect quarterback, Goff has all the physical traits to thrive in Philly’s set offense and with new coach Doug Pederson, the new QB/OC connection could be long term with Goff and Pederson. Although Wentz is a possibility here, I think Goff edges Wentz.
Tampa Bay- Vernon Hargreaves CB Florida
A home state prospect with legit corner skills, Hargreaves would bolster that Bucs secondary and can make an immediate impact. Even though scouts may think of him as small (5’10), Hargreaves makes up that with a 39 inch vertical and 130 inch broad jump, which was in fact one of the top performances for a corner this year. The Bucs can benefit greatly from this pick.
NYG- Leonard Floyd OLB Georgia
Floyd is a huge outside linebacker at 6’6 and 244 pounds and is a Giants type of player. Floyd can line up as a edge rusher and can plug up the middle with his long, rangy athletic body. Floyd can make an impact on special teams as well if he gets the chances there but I think we will stick with a three down system for Floyd.
Chicago- Jack Conklin OL Michigan State
New Orleans- Jaylon Smith LB Notre Dame
Miami- A’Shawn Robinson DT Alabama
Oakland- Robert Nkemdiche DT Ole Miss
L.A. Rams- Laquon Treadwell WR Ole Miss
Detroit- Cody Whitehair OG Kansas State
Atlanta- Corey Coleman WR Baylor
Indianapolis- Reggie Ragland ILB Alabama
Buffalo- Andrew Billings DT Baylor
NYJ- Henry Hunter TE Arkansas
Washington- Shaq Lawson DE Clemson
Houston- Ezekiel Elliott RB Ohio State
Minnesota- Taylor Decker OT Ohio State
Cincy- Will Fuller WR Notre Dame
Pittsburgh- Mackenzie Alexander CB Clemson
Seattle- Germain Ifedi OG/OT Texas A&M
Green Bay- Kevin Dodd DE Clemson
Kansas City- Chris Jones DT Mississippi State
Arizona- Rashard Robinson CB LSU
Carolina- Jarran Reed DT Alabama
Denver- Sheldon Rankins DT Louisville
NEW ENGLAND HAS NO 1ST ROUND PICK DUE TO ROGER GOODELL’S FOOLISH ACTS OF STUPIDITY..
