NHL Free agency has started and the Bruins started it off with the signing of David Backes. Backes is a 9 year veteran of the league as he has spent all his time in St.Louis with the Blues.
33-year-old Backes is a 6-foot-3, 221-pounder center who can get the puck to the net and knock on wood stay healthy. This is definitely a good addition for the Bruins. The question I now have is what will the Bruins do with Ryan Spooner will he stay the center of the third-line or is he out?
He signed with the Bruins for 5 years so get used to him, he will be around for some time. This opens a lot of doors for the Bruins as I think this will help the Bruins land Kevin Shattenkirk as he played with Backes for multiple seasons with the Blues.
