A 35-17 victory for the Patriots solidified the homecoming of Tom Brady, and his revenge tour takes a stop out to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Sunday afternoon.
The big headliner for this match up was the torn meniscus of Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger, which will impact the Steelers tremendously, but do they have confidence in backup QB Landry Jones? A four year vet out of Oklahoma, Jones was a household name during his tenure through college and is looking to start off the 2016 season against arguably one of the most challenging teams in the NFL.
Last week, the big star of New England you could say was Rob Gronkowski. A 7 catch 162 yard game, which was a career high for yards in the 7 year career of Gronk, helped guide the Pats to a 5-1 record. The hip problem to RB LeGarrette Blount seemed to not affect him last Sunday, as he was on the field for a large percentage of snaps. Wide receivers Julian Edelman and Chris Hogan showed promise on Sunday, as both were doing the usual of running the slant routes and finding the crevices to reach the 1st downs. Hogan suffered some injuries last game and could potentially see a decrease in minutes, but that’s all Patriots staff for when the time comes. Same goes for Edelman, as a nagging foot injury could lead to a decrease in minutes.
On the defensive side, Jamie Collins is dealing with a hip injury and could also potentially see limited minutes, but as one of the most reliable players on the roster, Collins is a difference maker whenever he steps onto the field. For the secondary, no injuries were reported, as this will help them tremendously when they face off against a speedy and crafty Steelers receiving core on Sunday. With Antonio Brown, Darrius Heyward Bey and Sammie Coates all speedsters when they get into the open field, the Pats secondary is going to have to lock in every single play that happens.
Go Pats!
