A miraculous day for the BC Eagles, as they snap a 12 game ACC losing streak and win their first in-conference victory since 2014 against UNC.
A 21-14 victory over the NC State Wolfpack ends a horrific streak and brings the up and down Eagles to a 4-4 record on the season. Quarterback Patrick Towles threw for 204 yards and a pick but the Eagles got some help from Jeff Smith, half receiver/quarterback/running back as he ran for 70 yards and a score (60 yd run) and caught 3 passes for 25 yards. Running back Davon Jones, just a freshman, played one snap at QB in the red zone and completed a pass for a touchdown.Power back runner Jon Hilliman churned out 20 carries for 78 yards to help set up in possible scoring chances. Wide receiver Tommy Sweeney also recorded 5 receptions for 78 yards and a touchdown to help BC overcome a sinking deficit of a 12 game losing streak.
On the defensive side of the ball, the Eagles absolutely crushed the Wolfpack on the run game. Allowing a mere 31 yards, the job was completed for the defense to eliminate the Wolfpack run game, and they did it with help from everyone. In the passing game, the Eagles allowed 307 yards but only allowed 14 points. Junior defensive end Harold Landry continues to put in the work each week and racked up his 9th sack of the season today to go with 4 tackles. Landry was also responsible for the lone forced fumble in the game from the Eagles D and 2 quarterback hurries. Senior linebacker Matt Milano also chipped in a sack to help guide the Eagles to a heartfelt victory for the entire school.
