A loss that does not show the Celtics way of basketball at all last night in Sacramento, is a reminder that there is always progress to be made.
Former Sacramento King Isaiah Thomas showed the team that for a while believed in him, but due to business related reasons, released him, that it was a move they would regret along with Phoenix. Dropping a mere 26 points, not his ideal game, but it is about a team effort. Amir Johnson was another key player in this game with 14 points going along with playing 27 minutes, which for him is getting back some minutes. Horford and Crowder combined for 14 points as it was just a night they know moving forward, this team has weaknesses and they need to be addressed. Off the bench, Marcus Smart, Kelly Olynyk, and Gerald Green were the top scorers combining for 26 points (Smart had a sweet dime to Olynyk), as they look to regroup against Portland in a back to back game schedule this week.
For Sacramento, a win against a team that was riding a seven game winning streak and looking to make it eight, is a big confidence booster to this team, who did not even have All Star C DeMarcus Cousins in the lineup due to a suspension. Journeymen Anthony Tolliver and backup center Kosta Koufos combined for 17 while Willie Cauley-Stein, former John Calipari Wildcat, had himself a terrific game with 14 off the bench and a slam dunk over Amir Johnson. Point guard Darren Collison led Sacramento with 26 points, and somehow they got the job done at home.
Celtics look to rebound tonight against Portland, who came off a one point win against Dallas Tuesday night, and are eleven games back of the division leader Utah Jazz (34-19).
