Jason Witten’s first season as ESPN’s “Monday Night Football” play-by-play analyst has been a gigantic fail, with him starting off poorly, and not really showing any signs of improvement since then.
To his credit, he’s poked fun at himself on Twitter about it, clearly understanding that he needs to be better. But that doesn’t help fans, who are stuck listening to his ridiculous takes, and forced shtick.
Like, for example, when he tried to mimic Cris Collinsworth’s smooth slide-in to the shot before NBC’s primetime games. It was awkward, clunky, and, like his commentary — a fail.

Check out how well Collinsworth does it.
The only way I can describe this Collinsworth slide: Groovy. pic.twitter.com/RBkqBvj4vY

Twitter had a field day with it.

I feel like they specifically made Jason Witten an announcer to make me appreciate Joe Buck and Cris Collinsworth more

Will Witten return to the booth next season? We hope not.
